Foundation Course in General Insurance

COURSE INTRODUCTION

 This is an introductory-level study programme targeting non-qualified staff working in the insurance sector, whether in service centres or elsewhere. It aims to equip the candidates with the essential knowledge and competency needed to work as an insurance practitioner. It also builds a good foundation for candidates who wish to pursue insurance as a career.

OVERALL COURSE OBJECTIVES

 On completion of the course, the candidates should be able to:

  1. Know and understand the basic insurance products and practices, including underwriting and policy wordings, claims, and customer service.
  2. Know and understand the structure of the insurance market and how it operates.
  3.  Apply the acquired knowledge in their day-to-day work.


TARGET GROUP

The foundation in General Insurance is appropriate for:

  • Anyone wishing to gain a broad understanding of insurance principles, key disciplines, and products.
  • Employees who have no formal insurance qualifications but wish to objectively demonstrate insurance knowledge and understanding.
  • Anyone working in specific technical claims handling or underwriting roles within a call or service centre environment.
  • Insurance staff employed in support functions such as human resources, marketing, IT, and finance, wishing to develop an understanding of the industry in which they work.
  • Staff working for an organisation whose primary business is not insurance, but which offers insurance advice and products as part of its overall service to customers. 

DURATION

The students have three months to complete the course. There will be 50 contacts 
hours.

Training hours: 8 am to 12 pm on Saturdays.
